Event Description:
¡Comparte Tu Historia! invites people to share their stories as it relates to Everglades National Park and the Cold War period. Much of the Cold War’s history is viewed through a military perspective. Our aim is to record personal recollections and impressions from those who have connections to events in history such as the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and Operation Pedro Pan. Participants are encouraged to share photographs and any other memorabilia significant to their experience.
Those interested in participating in ¡Comparte Tu Historia! can contact Daniel Miguel, LHIP Cultural History Education Intern at (305) 242-7862 or Mariana Bruno, LHIP Archives Outreach Intern at (305) 242-7808 to schedule an appointment.
The National Park Service is committed to engaging and celebrating the diversity and culture of their surrounding communities. Latino Conservation Week: Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra is a Hispanic Access Foundation initiative. Every year interns from the Latino Heritage Internship Program host a variety of naturally and culturally inclusive activities for Latinos, a historically underrepresented visitor demographic to the National Park Service.
