Event Description:

Celebrate Latino Conservation Week! This event will be held in Spanish and English.

Volunteer with the Montgomery Parks Weed Warrior Volunteer Program to help control non-native, invasive plants (NNIs) at Cabin John Regional Park! NNIs can alter plant-animal associations and are causing significant changes in the composition, structure, and ecosystem function of our natural areas. Our goal will be to use tools to remove NNIs and help native trees, plants, and wildlife have a healthier habitat. Come learn and make a difference!

Time and Date: Tuesday 7/18 from 4:00 pm-5:30pm

Minimum Age: 16 years

Location: 7400 Tuckerman Ln, Bethesda, MD 20817

Student Service Learning (SSL) hours for students available! Pre-registration is required.

What to wear and bring? Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes or boots. We will have tools and gardening gloves to borrow if you don’t have your own. Please bring water to drink.

Ven a participar como voluntario en el Programa “Weed Warrior” de Montgomery Parks para ayudar a controlar a las plantas invasoras en Cabin John Regional Park! Las plantas invasoras pueden alterar las asociaciones entre planta y animal y están causando cambios significativos en la composición, estructura y función del ecosistema de nuestras áreas naturales. Nuestro objetivo será utilizar herramientas para eliminar las plantas invasoras y ayudar a los árboles, las plantas y la vida silvestre a tener un hogar más saludable. ¡Ven a aprender y marca la diferencia!

¡Ofrecemos horas de Aprendizaje de Servicio Estudiantil (SSL) para estudiantes! Requerimos que se pre-registre.

¿Qué ropa y equipo necesitarás? Use pantalones largos que cubran los tobillos, mangas largas y zapatos o botas resistentes y cerrados. Tendremos herramientas y guantes de jardinería para prestar si no tiene los suyos. Por favor traer agua para beber.
