Outdoor Screening of the Documentary DamNation Alongside Sustainable DIY

Event Description:

Drop by Harvest House Tuesday, July 20th from 8-10pm for a free outdoor showing of the documentary DamNation alongside a sustainable DIY for Latino Conservation Week, an initiative of the Hispanic Access Foundation! Harvest House is located off the historic downtown Denton’s Square at 331 E Hickory Street. At the event you will have the choice of making a dog toy or reusable bag out of an old tee shirt, so make sure to bring one you no longer use. Also, the first 20 attendees will receive a $5 voucher to spend on a ZP beverage at Harvest House!

Once seen as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels, DamNation highlights the destructive nature damming has on ecosystems and cultures. The film was featured at the SXSW Film Festival and the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital in 2014. We hope this event sparks your curiosity to learn more about the importance of the nation’s rivers!

This event is sponsored by a Latino Conservation Week Grant and Harvest House. The Hispanic Access Foundation works to connect Latino leaders and elevates their voices in underrepresented areas. All donations from the event will benefit Team Brownsville, a non-profit which directly assists asylum seekers who find themselves in Brownsville, Texas and at the Brownsville/Matamoros international bridges.

The event is organized by US Fish and Wildlife DFP Intern Beatrice Arce, who gained her position through the Hispanic Access Foundation's MANO Project, which places college students into trustworthy agencies and organizations to advance professional development.
