Join Latino Outdoors Colorado to learn more about Lucero’s role as park ranger at Cherry Creek State Park, how her love of nature, and career path led her there as we celebrate Latino Conservation Week 2020!

Speaker Bio: Lucero Torres is a Parks Officer with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and currently works at Cherry Creek State Park located in Aurora, Colorado.She earned her Bachelors of Science from Unity College in Maine and received her Masters in Conservation Biology from the University of Northern Colorado. Since then she has completed many certifications including becoming a Certified Interpretive Guide with the National Association of Interpretation.Lucero began her career in conservation right after graduating from Coal City High School in Illinois in 2010 when she was hired as a seasonal employee with Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie. Most of the summer consisted of measuring grass and basic maintenance, but the hook was set. She proceeded to work six consecutive seasons with the US Forest Service as a Forest Protection Officer before being hired as a full time employee with the City of Aurora as a Park Ranger. Wanting more, Lucero proceeded to go through the extensive hiring process to become a Parks Officer with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and was offered a position in October of 2017.Since then she has enjoyed the many challenges her position brings and truly believes she has the best job in the world.
